Built by Jarosław Gerycz. Opened 27 Dec 1938 as Teatr miejski - Dom Ludowy im. Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego (Municipal Theatre - People's House named after Marshal Józef Pilsudski). 1949 renamed in honour of the Polish actor and theatre director, Aleksander Wegierko (1893-1941). The building contains a main theatre hall (496 seats) and a chamber theatre (100 seats). (English)
