Built 1846-1849 by Carl Ferdinand Langhans for the Stettin merchants' society. Opened 21 October 1849 with Goethe's Egmont. 1892 bought by the city of Stettin. 1899 front extension by a foyer and staircase wing. 1905-1906 backstage extensions, renewal of stage machinery. 800 seats (+ 170 standing). Destroyed by bombs ca. 1945. Remains subsequently removed. (English)
